Home Maintenance Tip: Check Dishwasher Water Connections

HomeZada Home Maintenance Tip check dishwasher water connections

Is your dishwasher making all kinds of noise? When you open your dishwasher expecting to see clean dishes but see dishes that are still dirty, what are you to do? You may be able to correct some of these challenges by checking your dishwasher water connections.

Depending on how your dishwasher was originally installed, you might have access to the water supply and drain lines leading to and from the dishwasher. If you can inspect the dishwasher water connections that you have access to, typically near the main kitchen sink, you can determine if there are any leaks. You can tighten any dishwasher water connections you have to eliminate leaks, but you may also have deteriorating lines. If you have deteriorating lines, you may also need to replace these also. Depending on the age and performance of your dishwasher, you occasionally may have to replace the unit altogether. Replacing the unit will also resolve issues with leaks and deteriorating drainage lines.

Dishwasher water and drain connections

Most dishwashers today are installed under a counter top and next to a sink. The dishwasher usually connects to a water line under the sink, and also has a drain line that hooks up to the drain under the sink.  If these dishwasher water connections go bad, replacing them can be a difficult task that usually requires a professional plumber. Plumbers can also help replace dishwashers as well as fix them.
