This year, Pantone has opted to go with two colors…a bright, happy shade of yellow and a calming light gray.
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute describes the color choices as “Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic.”
And as we move further into the “dark days” of the year, who couldn’t use a little pop of color to brighten their life?
If this sounds like something you’d like to do, check out these easy ways to add these beautiful color choices to your home without breaking the bank.:
1. Flower pots
If you have indoor house plants, a quick, easy and cheap way to use Pantone’s 2021 colors in your home’s decor is by painting the pots they’re in.
You can paint them all one color, or use painter’s tape to create unique designs…let your imagination run wild!
2. Curtains
Either add new curtains (can be expensive) or modify your current ones through the addition of trim. Paint the curtain rod(s) to easily change up the look of your room(s).
3. Throw pillows
A really basic way to use Pantone’s colors for 2021 is with throw pillows. Either replace the pillows you have with ready-made pillows or sew new covers for your existing pillows.
Hate sewing? Here are dozens of ways to make pillow covers that don’t involve needle and thread.
You can even use fabric paint over your current pillows…the choice is yours!
4. Throw rugs
We don’t often think about what we’re walking on, but using one or more rugs in neutral gray and bright yellow colors can really add dimension and style to any area.
5. Picture frames
A gallery of empty frames in gray, yellow and white create a unique look that would suit nearly any decor.
6. Shelves
Either purchase prefab shelving or DIY your own to create beautiful, interesting and useful wall shelving units to display your collectibles.
7. Sofa blanket
Finally, there are a lot of ways to decorate a room with Pantone’s 2021 colors that don’t have to break the bank. A simple throw for a chair or couch is a cheap and easy way to add color without completely committing to a design change. You can buy one, but why not try to make one yourself?
