3 Green Cleaning Products to Keep Your Home Chemical Free and Clean!

Green Cleaning ProductsLet’s assume that the general public is relatively aware of the dangers of household cleaners and the dangerous chemicals they are made of . If you aren’t one of the assumed general public, read our blog post “The Invisible Home Toxins“. If that’s the case and we do know what dangers household cleaners can be, then why do we continue to use them? Because they are convenient to buy from the store? Maybe it’s because what we have all used for as long as we can remember?  Or because we don’t know what else to use? It is most likely a combination of the three.

Here are three natural or green cleaning products and ways you can use them to keep your home looking and smelling clean, and most importantly chemical free.

Environmentally Friendly and Green Cleaning Products

Baking Soda

You can use baking soda by dusting surfaces with it and then scrubbing them with a moist sponge or cloth. Baking soda can be used to clean a variety of surfaces, from the tile in your shower to the counters in your kitchen. This method is especially great for stainless steel sinks, refrigerators, and oven tops.

Vinegar

Spray stains, mildew, or grease streaks with vinegar, let it stand for a few minutes, then scrub with a stiff brush. You can use white vinegar, water, and newspaper to wash your windows – just mix 2 tablespoons or so of white vinegar with a gallon of water and put the mix into a spray bottle. From there you just spray on and wash like you used to do with Windex but instead using green cleaning products.

Club Soda

Using club soda can be a very effective way of removing carpet stains, but only if the problem is attacked right away. If you spill something, quickly blot the mess with an old rag and club soda. The soda’s carbonation brings the spill to the surface, and the salts in the soda help fight staining.

It will be hard to completely stop using all of the household chemicals you are currently using. But if you start using just one of the alternative green cleaning products, you will find yourself building new habits. And finding other creative ways these green cleaning products can provide clean benefits to your home. No more chemicals.
